Flootech Oy offer a wide range of Dual Flow Basket Filter solutions to treat various water sources for use in large scale cooling towers, municipal desalination plants and for industrial process water make-up.

Dual Flow Basket Filters have a flow capacity of 1,800m3/hr to 50,000m3/hr.

The screening solutions can be used for fresh and seawater intakes. With installations dating back to the 1960’s, Flootech’s dual flow basket screens are industry proven, robust and offer clients with significantly lower total cost of ownership compared with traditional high flow dual flow band screens.

The Flootech Dual Flow Basket Filters are designed to provide preliminary filtration and gross solids removal from water down to 0.2mm. Water enters the main feed channel and flows continuously through the centre of the screen. Water is filtered by the mesh sieve within the baskets on and out both sides of the travelling band (dual flow).

As material builds up on the baskets, the differential pressure across the screen increases. This causes the downstream water level to slowly fall. A level sensor upstream and downstream continuously monitors the differential level. Eventually, the downstream level drops far enough and the PLC control system activates a wash cycle.

During the wash cycle the screen rotates and a series of wash jets direct the screenings into a central launder at the head of the screen. From here, the screenings, are collected and disposed of. The clean surface of the screen then travels back down into the feed channel. The wash cycle continues until the downstream water level returns to normal.

The Flootech Dual Flow Basket Filter as several advantages over traditional intake screens. One significant advantage is the screens ability to handle variable water levels, making it ideal for seawater intake systems. It also offers significantly better filtration performance over traditional intake screening solutions, with the capability of filter to 0.2mm.

The Flootech Dual Flow Basket Filter also integrates seamlessly with an upstream Flootech automatic bar screen for more difficult water supplies.
